We are Unique!

October 13th, 2009 by ken

What makes you unique?  What sets you apart from anyone else?  Every person has a uniqueness like none other.  Did you know there is no one just like you?  No one has your thumbprint.  No one has the same DNA as you do!  Did you know the same could be said about our church?  There is not another church quite like Crosslink.  There is a uniqueness that we have that is different than any other church.  What do you think that uniqueness would be?  Take some time to answer the question from last week:

What can we do better than 10,000 others?

Then ask what makes us unique? [hint the first question will help you answer this one!]

Look forward to hearing from you.

We can love other people better than 10000 others

So….. I’ve been thinking quite a bit about this question and my resolve is this: Crosslink has an amazing ability to “make people feel at home.” This weekend I continued to hear comments that made reference to how people felt at home when they walked through the doors. I heard many comments about how friendly faces and warm hearts welcomed them into the worship service. To that I say, “PRAISE GOD!!!” I have never been more proud of our greeting ministry. When I hear comments like that it truly blesses my heart. I have been to many churches that lack that quality. The cold and distant environment lead to people not attending a second time. The second thing that I believe Crosslink can do better than 10,000 other churches is….. wait for it….. here it comes….. cook a mean chocolate eclair!!!

We have a Pastor, Staff and Leaders that have a calling to reach the lost in Mebane. I think we could have more events like Awaken for the kids and youth.

I think the “grow smaller as we grow larger” idea is one that can both set up apart from other churches and show the people who come to Crosslink that we care for them personally.

I appreciate all the comments on our “Uniqueness.” This is something that we need to continue to pursue. I agree that we can love the people of our community better than any others. This is done, and will continue to be done as we build authentic relationships with them. The best way for us to do that is through “growing smaller as we grow larger.” We want to be a church of small groups and not with small groups.

I believe that if everyone at Crosslink would catch the vision that we should all try and truly love each other and reach out to all of the folks that visit CCC then I believe that not only Mebane but the rest of NC and the world will take notice. Events like Awaken show who we are and that we care for the community.

We can love people just where they are without compromising the standard of the Gospel. This is not so in all modern day churches. We also have a leadership team that is not intimidated by feedback and who do not have a “my” church attitude. Our people from leadership on down truly have a “God’s” church attitude and desire to be what God wants us and Crosslink to be. As we seek what God really wants for Crosslink, He will continue to unfold His plan for His people. I believe Awaken Mebane was a start.
